Ms. Emma Stegemiller joined Sherwood Christian Academy last year as one of our 5th grade teachers, and we are grateful she is part of our Sherwood Christian Academy family! She teaches reading, math, and Bible with excellence, and her gentle, kind spirit has been a blessing to students and staff alike. Whether she is sharing her class’s “Good News” during chapel or encouraging her students in the classroom, Ms. Stegemiller brings joy and care to all she does. We are grateful for the blessing she is to our school community.
We’re also celebrating an exciting season in her life—Ms. Stegemiller is soon to be married! We rejoice with her and her fiancé as they prepare to begin this new chapter together.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Georgia Southwestern State University (Graduated Summa Cum Laude)
YEARS LEADING IN EDUCATION: I taught one year in kindergarten and this is my second year teaching fifth grade!

FAVORITE THING ABOUT TEACHING ELEMENTARY STUDENTS: My favorite thing about teaching elementary students is their excitement and witnessing their child-like faith the Bible talks about. Elementary students are so excited to participate in class and to share their good news. I love getting to experience that. It definitely encourages me to share my excitement for things and to have unwavering faith.

FAVORITE HOBBY: I love reading and crocheting!
FAVORITE VACATION SPOT: The Bahamas! I love cruising so much!
FAVORITE BOOK: I love any mystery books! My favorite book of all time is The Monster at the End of This Book. My dad read it to me all the time as a kid using all the silly voices. That is what really got me into reading.

FAVORITE SNACK: Animal crackers and Cheez-Its
AS A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP? I’ve always wanted to be a teacher!

WHY DO YOU THINK CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT AND SPECIAL? Christian education is so important because the salvation of the next generation is the most important thing. Getting to be a part of pointing children to Christ and establishing their relationship with Christ is an honor that I won’t ever take lightly. The school day is a big chunk of the students’ lives and getting to spend the day in an environment where we can openly talk about the Lord is such a privilege.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT SCA? Just witnessing the students praying for each other and rejoicing when a friend is saved or baptized. My heart is so blessed to see the unity that Christ provides throughout the school.
