Say Hello to Mrs. Heather Lawton! Mrs. Lawton is in her second year at Sherwood Christian Academy, where she teaches Middle School Math and 7th grade typing. With more than a decade of experience working with middle schoolers, she brings knowledge, patience, and energy to the classroom every day.
Mrs. Lawton has a special gift for connecting with the middle school age group. She understands the unique mix of curiosity, humor, and growing independence that defines middle schoolers, and she knows exactly how to connect with them.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Lawton helps fuel the fun as the leader of the beloved Middle School Snack Attack store! She keeps the shelves stocked and the environment upbeat, giving students a fun and inviting space to enjoy during break time. Her creativity and care make the morning break a highlight of the middle school experience.
We’re thankful for the dedication and heart Mrs. Lawton brings to SCA each day. She’s more than just a math teacher! Mrs. Lawton is a mentor, encourager, and key part of what makes our middle school such a special place.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Middle School Math and Science from Georgia Southwestern State University and Gifted Endorsed
YEARS LEADING IN EDUCATION: This is my 12th year of teaching middle school and my second year at SCA.
FAVORITE HOBBY/HIDDEN TALENT: I have a green thumb! I love to garden and collect day lilies.
FAVORITE SNACK: My favorite snack is a Cherry Coke and buffalo pretzel chips.
AS A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP? I have always wanted to be a teacher.
WHY DO YOU THINK CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT AND SPECIAL? One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching at SCA is witnessing my students’ spiritual development during weekly chapel services. Knowing that I am able to not only have an impact on their academic development but that the Lord is using me to impact their lives spiritually is such a gift that I do not take for granted.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT SCA? My favorite memory at SCA happened when one of my new students (who came to SCA from my old school system) accepted the Lord as his Savior during chapel last fall.
