Our football program plays in the Georgia Association of Private and Parochial Schools (GAPPS). We are one of 131 participating programs in the GAPPS league. We currently play 8-man football. Our football season is in the fall, with exciting home games, school spirit, and student and parent involvement, which all work to make this program successful. Under Coach Doug Eason and his staff, our football team competes with excellence and continues to strive and win on and off the field. Sherwood has won two football State Championships! We compete in Varsity and Middle School, with Middle School being independent and not associated with any conference.
Coach Doug Eason has coached football at every level.
From 2014-2018, under the leadership of Coach Josh Hoekstra, Coach Eason had the opportunity to coach in a high-caliber football program. The program made it to the Class 5A Final Four twice and Quarter Finals twice. Coach Eason served as an assistant coach of Team Florida in the War of the Border All-Star Game in 2018.
In 2022, he was the Head Coach of the 7th Grade team at Deerfield Windsor School. Coach Eason expresses that, “Accolades are great, but at the end of the day it’s about building godly relationships with young men. We show that winning championships is a by-product of perpetual growth and doing it God’s way.” – “Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (I Corinthians 10:31).
